Welcome to
The Exercise Clinic
Thank you for visiting our website. Here you’ll find out about our work and some of the incredible people who have helped make The Exercise Clinic what it is today.
Our team
Emily Curtis and Chris Cottrell founded The Exercise Clinic in 2016. We share a passion for exercise and its health benefits for people who are living with cancer.
Emily
Over the last ten years, Emily has been working as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist registered with Academy of Healthcare Science. Emily is also a Clinical Research Fellow at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and is leading an exercise trial to support prostate cancer patients on long-term treatment. You can find out more about this trial below.
Chris
Chris was diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer in 2011. After initial hormone therapy treatment and surgery, his PSA began to rise and he was recommended to start an exercise programme. Over the next two years, his PSA progression slowed significantly. Since 2016 Chris has gone on to have further treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and long-term hormone therapy. He continues to exercise and believes that resistance and cardiovascular exercise has had a positive impact in the management of his disease and the side effects of treatment.
